The YDP Scholarship Programme was created to offer a unique post-16 option to students who wanted to not only further their footballing ability but also gain qualifications in higher education.
Since it’s birth the programme has encompassed all that YDP stands for, including working with children from all types of backgrounds , offering multiple pathways post-programme and creating an enjoyable yet challenging environment.
So many have come away from the programme and either go on to university, employment, coaching with YDP and many more. This all being through choosing our course and gaining valuable life skills to last forever.
Launched in September 2022, we joined forces with St John Fisher Catholic High School to offer a new girls-only scholarship programme for post-16-year-old girls. Students who were offered this sports scholarship had the opportunity to achieve an OCR Level 3 Diploma in Sport, delivered by ex-professional coaches from Stanground Academy, which was rated GOOD by Ofsted. The programme offered additional benefits and opportunities, such as :

Our YDP ALLSTARS football team is comprised of scholarship students aged 16-18, who competed in the National College League and played against professional clubs, receiving coaching from UEFA-qualified coaches to improve their physical skills. Students also had the opportunity to meet inspiring role models such as YDP co-owner and ex-professional goalkeeper Luke Steele and participate in group and 1:1 talks. Young people offered this sports scholarship had the opportunity to achieve an OCR Level 3 Diploma in Sport, delivered by teachers from St John Fisher Catholic High School, which had a 100% pass rate in 2019. The programme also offered opportunities to gain valuable work experience coaching with YDP, attain a First Aid qualification, and advance their skill. This qualification is not just about being able to play sport; it will provide learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress onto an Apprenticeship, a Level 3 Tech Level qualification or employment in the sport and physical activity sector.
